60-second interview with James Quarmby TEP

Monday, 05 August 2024
In anticipation of James Quarmby TEP speaking at the upcoming STEP Bermuda Conference, we spoke to him about the Conference and his session within it.

Please can you tell us a little about what delegates can expect when they attend the STEP Bermuda Conference (the Conference)?

The STEP Bermuda Conference offers great technical sessions and even better networking opportunities for attendees.

Can you tell us what you will be speaking about at the Conference?

My session will examine the recent changes proposed to the UK's non-dom tax regime, focusing on the possible consequences for non-UK domiciled individuals already in the UK, as well as those who are considering coming to the UK.

We will discuss the proposed replacement regime and look in-depth at the inheritance tax position, especially as it may affect existing offshore trusts.

We will also examine future of the offshore industry, in the light of the new government's known views on the CDOTs. Please note that this is session is more of a debate between two experienced tax practitioners, each with quite strong and sometimes differing views, with a moderator to ensure fair play.

Which other sessions are you particularly looking forward to?

The sessions feature a variety of informative speakers and topics, I am looking forward to all of them.
