60-second interview with Laurence Stokes
What do you think is the most important thing STEP does?
STEP provides a clear and rigorous training route for practitioners, thereby enabling them to provide the best advice to their clients.
Why did you decide to take one of the STEP qualifications?
It is a part of the financial and legal landscape that has always fascinated me. I promised myself I would improve my knowledge once I had the time to do so.
What would you say to someone who is considering taking a STEP qualification?
Do it sooner rather than later! It will significantly improve your knowledge base and your career. It is something I now wish that I had done earlier in my life.
You achieved the top mark in your recent exam – do you have any advice for those wanting to do the same?
Work hard! Try to get ahead of the game in your studies, it will reduce your stress and be more enjoyable.
One of STEP’s Values is continuous learning. How has the qualification supported your professional development and career growth?
It has provided me with access to relevant and up to date material. The webinars and in-person seminars are invaluable in being able to network and ask questions relating to particular areas of trusts and estates.
