Further information
In submitting an application, applicants are asked to ensure that they read the Global SIG Terms of Reference, which set forth the rules and guidance on all matters relating to the running, governance and operation of special interest groups, to include detail on the responsibilities and obligations you would undertake as a Global SIG Steering Committee member and who is eligible to apply.
Candidates are encouraged to highlight relevant experience in their personal statement and professional experience; there is no rigid model as to what a committee member should be like and we welcome members from a range of backgrounds and identities to bring different perspectives. Fundamental is, demonstrable experience and expertise, or an expressed interest, in the special interest group’s field of focus.
If successfully elected, Members of the Committee are expected to actively participate in the work of the Committee on behalf of the global SIG and regularly attend committee meetings, joining either in person or by means of tele-/web-conferencing equipment (occurring four-six times in a calendar year).
We also encourage applicants to view the STEP Code of Conduct and Professional Standards and STEP's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Guiding Principles (EDI) and accompanying materials on our 'Living our Values' hub which set out the expectations for those acting for and on behalf of STEP.
